WanderVerse offers:

Send-back service procedure

For the user

1. Open WanderVerse app → Device → Service → Request Send-back 2. Select service type (repair / upgrade / cover refresh / calibration / mode-flag toggle / etc.) 3. Review estimated cost breakdown + ship-time estimate 4. Choose Ambassador (or auto-assign from roster) 5. Pay via integrated checkout (Stripe) — covered under warranty or paid per category above 6. Print shipping label (prepaid for in-warranty; charged otherwise) 7. CRITICAL: retain signed Ambassador card + regulatory disclosure sheet — ship device only 8. Drop off at any carrier location 9. Track in app: "Received → Diagnosed → Ambassador-assigned → In work → Quality-check → Shipped" 10. Return device (typically 7 business days)

For the Tier 3 Medical Ambassador at depot

1. Receive package; scan tracking to update user's WanderOS service history 2. Verify chain-of-custody — clinical medical device: signature + seal intact at receipt 3. Open device (T5 Torx); inspect; photograph pre-service condition 4. Perform requested work (module swap, repair, cover, calibration, flag toggle) 5. Special protocol for Invisible Mode flag toggle:

6. If Ambassador changed (different from original assembly): note in service log; offer to update signature card 7. Recalibrate every clinical sensor against NIST-traceable reference (required for Clinical+/Research) 8. Re-test on production test fixture (22 tests automated) 9. If Lux/Artisan: Ambassador Artisan hand-finishes components as needed 10. Re-seal with new EPDM gasket (if case was opened) 11. IP54 pressure-test to rating 12. Update firmware to latest + refresh regulatory disclosure sheet 13. Pack in sterilized pulp tray + ship 14. Scan tracking update 15. Log service event to unit DHR (permanent ISO 13485-compliant record)

---

Ambassador rotation + provenance

Each unit has a permanent service history accessible via serial + QR code. History shows:

Ambassador signature can rotate — if a different Ambassador services your device, they can: 1. Keep original Ambassador's signature — card/glyph plate stays 2. Co-sign — Ambassador adds secondary glyph/card noting service work 3. New signature (user-requested) — replace with current Ambassador's signature

Default behavior preserves original Ambassador's provenance.

---

Lux Artisan custom commissions (Research Artisan only)

Research Artisan tier allows per-order commission work. User can:

Timeline: 2-4 weeks typical; longer for complex commissions.

Biocompatibility note: Any material incorporated into patient-contact surfaces must pass ISO 10993 biocompatibility screening. Ambassador Artisan verifies + WanderVerse legal signs off before commission accepted.

---

7-year parts guarantee

Per WanderVerse Standard 4 (No Planned Obsolescence), commits to producing + stocking spare parts for 7 years after a tier's EOL announcement.

Timeline for Scout (first tier to ship 2028-Q1)

The contract is: repair culture is real, not marketed. Medical-device industry's norm is "no user-serviceable parts inside" — we reject that norm while maintaining ISO 13485 + FDA discipline.

---

Special protocol: Invisible Mode users

Invisible Mode is a safety feature. Users in hostile environments (survivors, undocumented, trans in hostile states, harm-reduction programs) may need to:

Service for Invisible Mode users

1. User contacts support via WanderVerse's safe-path channel (end-to-end encrypted, no subpoena-accessible) 2. Ship device using PO box or trusted third party (never home address) 3. Tier 3 Ambassador services device in Invisible Mode without enabling any radio 4. No cloud records of Invisible Mode service events 5. Service log kept in local paper record at depot (not digital) with minimum necessary info 6. Return to user via safe-path 7. User is never required to reveal identity beyond what's needed for payment (cash/crypto accepted)

This is a conscious design commitment. Supports the users who need us most.

---

Consumables supply

Research tier requires consumables for certain modalities:

Ambassador-subscription option: $29/mo ships consumables on usage-detected cadence.

---

Summary

WanderTricorder's service model is more rigorous than WanderBand's (medical discipline) and more consumer-friendly than every medical-device competitor's (right-to-repair + Ambassador provenance + modular upgrade).

The commitment:

Medical-device industry norm: "no user-serviceable parts inside" → planned obsolescence → new unit every 3-5 years. WanderVerse norm: "buy once, maintain forever" → 7-10+ year device life with modular sensor upgrades.

Biocompatibility declaration

Patient-contact 3D printed surfaces must use ISO 10993-validated materials. Recommended:

NOT recommended for patient-contact:

Ambassador Artisan commissions using patient-contact materials (heirloom wood, custom brass, etc.) require WanderVerse ISO 10993 validation before incorporated. This is load-bearing.

---

Safety-critical designs — what is NOT community-modifiable

Certain geometries are explicitly excluded from community remix because they affect safety:

1. UV-C LED housing + interlock mechanism (Research) — tamper-resistance is load-bearing; community variants not supported 2. Battery compartment geometry — affects UN38.3 + IEC 62133 + UL 1642 validation 3. Sensor contact plates — affect clinical-sensor calibration; non-certified variants could cause mis-diagnosis 4. Chassis gasket seating — affects IP54 ingress rating + disinfectant compatibility 5. Scanner dock magnetic/UWB alignment — affects scanner wireless power + UWB ranging accuracy

Community members attempting to modify these will find the open STLs do NOT include those geometries. They are part of the closed-design protected by safety-critical engineering review.

---

Summary

The makers side of the WanderStore ecosystem lives here. Right-to-repair is real. But safety + FDA compliance are load-bearing, so some geometries stay closed.

Questions + community

Open hardware, open designs, closed safety-critical geometries. Right-to-repair + right-to-life-safety. Both.
