DIY policy — what voids warranty and what doesn't

What you can DIY without voiding warranty

What voids warranty on a specific module only

What voids whole-device warranty (rare — only genuine negligence)

What opens specific secondary warranties

Community-made accessories (straps/covers/chimes/detection models) warranted by maker, not WanderVerse

Send-back service procedure

For the user

1. Open WanderGuard app → Device → Service → Request Send-back 2. Select service type (repair / upgrade / refresh / escutcheon finish / etc.) 3. Review estimated cost breakdown (parts + service fee + shipping) 4. Choose Ambassador (or auto-assign based on geography + workload) 5. Pay via integrated Stripe checkout (prepaid for in-warranty; charged otherwise) 6. Print shipping label (prepaid both ways for in-warranty) 7. CRITICAL: retain the signed Ambassador card — ship device only; card stays with you as proof of Ambassador-build provenance 8. Drop off at any carrier 9. Track in app: Received → Diagnosed → Ambassador-assigned → In work → Quality check → Shipped 10. Return (typically 5-7 business days)

For the Ambassador at depot

1. Receive package; scan tracking to update user's WanderOS service history 2. Open device (T10/T5 Torx) using provided service tools 3. Photograph pre-service condition 4. Run incoming diagnostic (production test replay) — identifies the actual problem 5. Perform requested work (module swap, upgrade, cover refresh, etc.) 6. Re-seal with fresh gasket if case was opened (outdoor/waterproof SKUs) 7. Run production test fixture (90-240s automated) 8. Per-SKU additional QA: IP65 pressure test for outdoor; motor-noise for Lock; fingerprint re-enrollment for Bio 9. Photograph post-service condition 10. Pack in replacement pulp tray + ship 11. Scan tracking update 12. Log service event to unit history (permanent record in NVMEM)

Panic-wipe recovery procedure

If user triggered panic-wipe in emergency: 1. Device is factory-reset but hardware intact 2. User can self-re-provision via fresh setup QR in app 3. Ambassador assistance available if user prefers (via chat/Discord) 4. Audit log was intentionally wiped — this is the feature, not a bug 5. If user wants "restore last-good config" — NOT provided; panic-wipe is designed to be irreversible

Ambassador-handling of HAVEN orders

All HAVEN orders require additional protocols:

---

Ambassador rotation + provenance

Each unit has permanent service history accessible via serial + QR code on interior service card:

Ambassador signature can rotate — if a different Ambassador services your device: 1. Keep original Ambassador's signature (default — card stays) 2. Co-sign (Ambassador adds secondary glyph noting service) 3. New signature (user-requested — replace with current Ambassador)

Optional per-service; default preserves original Ambassador's provenance + story.

---

Lux Artisan custom commissions (Lock escutcheon primarily)

Ultra-Lux tier allows per-order commission work for escutcheon + faceplate (Bell):

Timeline: 2-6 weeks depending on complexity.

---

7-year parts guarantee

Per Standard 4 (No Planned Obsolescence), WanderVerse commits to producing + stocking spare parts for 7 years after a tier's EOL announcement.

Timeline (2027-Q2 first-ship SKUs — Cam IN/OUT + Bell Std + Lock Std)

Timeline (2027-Q3 first-ship SKUs — Cam Pro/Batt + Bell Pro + Lock Bio)

What this guarantees

What it doesn't guarantee

---

Upgrade pathways

Within-SKU (Ambassador send-back, $25 + parts + shipping)

Tier-upgrade (trade-in credits)

All trade-ins: device must be in working order; cosmetic damage acceptable with reduced credit.

Intergenerational upgrades (v1.0 → v2.0 when future gen launches)

Outdoor-rated ASA print specifics

ASA recommended for outdoor camera + bell covers due to:

If printing ABS for outdoor:

PETG for indoor + low-stress parts

PETG is friendly, strong, and easy to print — ideal for:

---

Customize in CAD (all standard parts)

All standard polymer parts published as both STL (print-ready) AND STEP (editable solid model):

Modify to taste: change colors, add venting, emboss your name, change thickness, add signage, add wiring channels.

Note: modifications that affect IP65 sealing (outdoor covers) require pressure re-test. WanderVerse service doesn't cover IP65 warranty on user-modified covers.

Why staged openness

Framework Laptop's model:

WanderVerse adopts this pattern. At launch:

The makers half of the WanderStore ecosystem lives here. Community can print, remix, submit back — and the best submissions become Ambassador-produced WanderStore items with 85% revenue to the creator.
