SERVICE-FLOW.md - Ambassador-side Service Flow

Inbound Diagnostic

When a WanderPet device arrives at an ambassador's location for repair or s service, follow these steps:

1. Visual Inspection:

• Check the exterior casing for physical damage such as cracks, dents, o

or discolored areas.

• Verify that all external components (lens, microphone, speaker grill)

are present and undamaged.

2. Power-Up Test:

• Connect the device to a power source if it has been disconnected from

the mains or battery. Ensure it powers on without errors.

• Check for any error messages displayed during startup, such as firmwar

firmware update notifications or hardware issues.

3. Functionality Verification:

• Manually trigger each function (video feed, 2-way audio, treat toss) t

to ensure responsiveness and proper operation.

• Inspect the infrared LED for operational integrity when using low-ligh

low-light features.

4. Remote Testing:

• Connect remotely via a smartphone or tablet if necessary, ensuring tha

that all remote features are working as expected.

• Confirm firmware compatibility and version accuracy with the current s

stable release.

5. Record Findings:

• Document any issues found during this process clearly for further anal

analysis by the repair team.

Field-Replaceable Units

Field-replaceable units (FRUs) in the WanderPet include the lens assembly, battery pack, speaker grill, and microphone housing. Replacement parts must must be sourced from authorized suppliers listed in BOM-normalized.csv.

Lens Assembly

• Part Number: IMX377-C02
• Description: Sony IMX377 16MP CMOS Image Sensor with integrated lens

assembly.

• Replacement Procedure:
• Power off the device and disconnect any power sources.
• Use a T8 Torx screwdriver to remove external screws securing the front

cover.

• Carefully separate the front cover from the base unit, taking care not

to bend or damage internal connectors.

Battery Pack

• Part Number: BATT-PET1200
• Description: Lithium-ion polymer battery pack with integrated power m

management circuitry.

• Replacement Procedure:
• Remove the back cover using a Phillips screwdriver. Disconnect the batt

battery connector from the main PCB.

• Insert the new battery and reconnect it to the PCB, ensuring proper ali

alignment of connectors.

Speaker Grill

• Part Number: SGRILL-PET1024
• Description: Enclosure for the device's built-in speaker.
• Replacement Procedure:
• Remove screws holding the speaker grill in place. Disconnect any attach

attached wires if necessary.

• Replace with a new unit, ensuring correct alignment and secure attachme

attachment.

Microphone Housing

• Part Number: MIC-C03
• Description: Housing for the device's built-in microphone.
• Replacement Procedure:
• Use a small flathead screwdriver to carefully pry open the housing. Dis

Disconnect any attached wires if necessary.

• Insert new microphone module and reattach housing, ensuring secure conn

connection.

Battery Service

The WanderPet battery service includes replacement due to depletion or malf malfunction. Follow these steps:

1. Check Battery Health:

• Use a multimeter set to DC voltage mode to measure the current state o

of charge (SOC).

• Record this reading for comparison with previous measurements and refe

reference values provided by the manufacturer.

2. Replacement Procedure:

• Refer to the field-replaceable units section above for specific instru

instructions.

• Ensure the new battery is fully charged before reinstallation to avoid

avoid premature depletion or performance issues.

3. Post-Replacement Testing:

• Power on the device and monitor its operation over a period of 24 hour

hours, noting any anomalies in charging behavior or overall system stabilit stability.

Firmware Roll-Back

In cases where the latest firmware version causes unexpected disruptions or or malfunctions, roll-back procedures should be implemented:

1. Identify Affected Devices:

• Determine which devices are experiencing issues and ensure they have b

been updated to the same problematic firmware release.

2. Download Previous Release:

• Retrieve a previous stable firmware build from the authorized cloud re

repository.

3. Roll-Back Process:

• Follow detailed roll-back instructions provided by the manufacturer, e

ensuring all steps are followed precisely.

• Use diagnostic tools to confirm successful rollback and reinstallation

4. Monitor for Issues:

• Closely observe affected devices post-rollback for any lingering issue

issues or newly introduced problems.

• Document findings and escalate unresolved concerns as needed.

Decommission + Secure-Wipe

Decommissioning a WanderPet device involves safely disposing of it while en ensuring data privacy:

1. Secure Data Erasure:

• Execute the "Panic-wipe" function to erase all recordings and revert t

the system to factory settings.

• Manually verify that no residual user data remains accessible via any

interface.

2. Disassembly for Recycling:

• Remove the battery pack from the device as per standard replacement pr

procedure (refer to Field-Replaceable Units section).

• Use a small Phillips screwdriver and pliers to carefully dismantle the

the remaining hardware components.

3. Material Sorting:

• Separate recyclable materials such as metal, plastic, and circuit boar

boards for proper recycling or disposal according to local regulations.

4. Documentation of Decommissioning Process:

• Record details of each decommissioned device including serial numbers,

numbers, date of destruction, and verification status.

• Maintain these records securely in compliance with relevant data prote

protection laws.

Ambassador Signature Provenance

Each WanderPet device includes a unique ambassador signature engraved insid inside the back cover to establish ownership and traceability. This practic practice ensures accountability and supports customer trust:

1. Ambassador Identification:

• Each ambassador will have a designated ID number associated with their

their name or initials.

2. Engraving Process:

• During assembly, use a specialized engraver tool to etch the ambassado

ambassador’s unique identifier into the inner surface of the device cover.

3. Verification Procedure:

• Upon completion of assembly, conduct a quality control check to confir

confirm that the signature is clearly visible and accurately represents the the assigned ambassador.

4. Customer Assurance:

• When returning devices for repair or service, emphasize the significan

significance of the engraved identifier as evidence of authentic service.
